Caveman Alien’s Ransom by Calista Skye Review

Caveman Alien’s Ransom by Calista Skye 2 Stars

Being abducted by aliens was never on my bucket list.
But I guess the aliens didn’t get that memo, because one night I was beamed aboard a UFO. It dumped me and a bunch of other girls on an alien planet.

A jurassic planet where giant, murderous dinosaurs walk around and everything wants to kill me.
My only hope of surviving is the first man I met here. His name is Jax’zan, and he’s an alien.

And a caveman.
As in, the hottest super-alpha caveman who ever lived. He’s big and strong and doesn’t talk much, but he’s saved my life so many times now that I’ve lost count.
My insides turn to hot mush whenever he fixes his smouldering eyes on me, and the scandalously sexy and unusual features his sensationally muscular body is rocking totally make me forget time and place.

There’s only one problem: He’s holding me for ransom. And he wants to repopulate his woman-less planet. With me

Review

This book is a lot silly and slow moving in parts. There is alien abduction survival fun with a circle of friends.

The lag in the book is what got me wrinkling my noses at the book and the heroine’s decision making at times.

But I am interested in the genius friend’s love story.

The Red Scot (A Curvy Girls Club Novel Book 1) by Twyla Turner  2.5 Stars!

She’ll be the greatest fight of his life…

So imagine her surprise and absolute fright when she catches the eye of the massive, hulking MMA fighter, who she secretly nicknames The Red Giant.

Review

I enjoyed this book a lot but there are writing errors and almost all the tropes of the book are heavy handed.

What saved it was fun dialogue, a great circle of friends, a wonderful sweet hero, and a geeky heroine.

Our hero and heroine are both shy which is fun. The hero is very self aware and kind. The heroine has PTSD from a past attempted rape.

The hero’s lovely wooing of the heroine plus the fact that that he is a super hot Scot let me enjoy the book despite the telling passages, lack of complexity, and typos.

Perv (Filth, #1) by Dakota Gray Review

Perv (Filth Book 1)  by Dakota Gray 3 Stars!

I’m honest about what I am. You want to screw until you can’t see straight? I’m your guy. You want to experience the best oral orgasm of your life, don’t pass go and collect two-hundred dollars. Eating you for dessert is my specialty. I live for that. Skinny, average or meat on your bones, I don’t care. Blonde, brunette…white, Asian, black…
Are you pink where it counts? Then you’re my type.
I’m your guy.
For the duration of our affair, I will call you Sugar because I can’t bother to retain your name.
That’s the kind of man I am, and you will know that going in. I make sure of it.
So it’s not my fault her friend loved me, but She is going to make me pay for that.
And I’m too addicted to her taste to walk away.

Hmmm.

The most intersting part of me about this book isn’t the fetish that Nate has for downtown, rather it is the more quiet discussion of connection and objectification and grief.

Those parts of the romance were powerful for me, however, Robyn’s and Nate’s working stuff out should have been on the page and in the book. Instead, we get melodrama, angst, and don’t get the well deserved falling in love.

Revenge plot, jerk heroes and deep 1 person are not my favorites so this book was climbing a steep hill with me.

The sexy stuff is sexy (though opening a romance with him with someone not the heroine makes me cringe a bit).

So, didn’t work that great for me and the author’s note at the end of the book annoyed me as a reader who is happy to see something different.

However, I will try the next book in the series as Nate’s friends are intersting.

Managed (VIP Book 2) by Kristen Callihan Review

4 Stars!

It started off as a battle of wits. Me: the ordinary girl with a big mouth against Him: the sexy bastard with a big…ego.

I thought I’d hit the jackpot when I was upgraded to first class on my flight to London.

That is until HE sat next to me. Gabriel Scott: handsome as sin, cold as ice. Nothing and no one gets to him. Ever. He’s a legend in his own right, the manager of the biggest rock band in the world, and an arrogant ass who looks down his nose at me.

I thought I’d give him hell for one, long flight. I didn’t expect to like him. I didn’t expect to want him. But the biggest surprise? He wants me too. Only in a way I didn’t see coming.

If I accept his proposal, I leave myself open to falling for the one man I can’t manage. But I’m tempted to say yes. Because the real man beneath those perfect suits and that cool façade just might be the best thing that’s ever happened to me. And I just might be the only one who can melt the ice around his heart.

Let the battle begin…

Review

The opening for this romance is amazing. It might be the best “I met you sitting next to you on the plane” ever.

The heroine is great and the uptight hero is such fun to soften.

This is a slow burn romance where we are so lucky to see the couple become friends, then emotionial intimates, and then lovers (though they are hot for each other the whole time).

There are perfect character surprises tucked here and there that add depth to this love story. The heroine has done something really not good in the past that she is moving past and the hero is very closed off but loving. They are utterly human and the love they have for each other and like powerful.

There is great banter to make me happy and yummy sexual tension and since they are on the road oodles of couple time.

I adored this book right up until there is a silly conflict a few chapters from the end or it would have been a 5 star read. As it is, the book is very good and has such wonderful moments to relish.
