Bartender, PI by Ethan Stone Review

Bartender, P.I. by Ethan Stone 2.5 Stars!

When hockey star Linc Carpenter is banned from playing his beloved sport, he starts over slinging drinks in Tampa. He’s inept as a bartender, so when the opportunity arises to train as a private

investigator he takes it. He’s not very good at that either, but he still manages to get hired to follow fashion mogul Quentin Faulkner.
Linc’s incompetence is a hindrance, but Brady Williams, Faulkner’s studly bodyguard, may prove to be his undoing. Brady is drawn to Linc, despite his bungling, and that stupidity may be just what’s needed to solve the case and save their lives.

This is a ridiculous book. It is slap stick funny.

The opening scene is crass and the hero isn’t too bring.

And yet… lol …it was a silly, shallow, quick read that I enjoyed.

The heroes are just so good natured.

Quiet Nights - Mary Calmes

It’s a lovely little life Kelly Seaton leads. He’s got his own landscaping business, a nice little house, and his best friend, Cosimo Renaldi, and Coz’s goofball family who have adopted Kelly as their own. Sure, it’s a little lonely at night, but it’s a sweet deal, and Kelly can’t chance ruining it by letting on that he wants more—has always wanted more—with Coz.

Then Kelly’s past comes to town, bringing bad memories and hurt feelings that start to break Kelly down, and Coz just doesn’t understand why Kelly won’t let him be the support and strength that Kelly’s always been for him. They’ve already been through war, Coz’s devastating injury, and starting new careers in Mangrove, Florida. Why shouldn’t they face their chaotic pasts and build their future of quiet nights… together?

There is a ton to like in this little novella. Its funny and charming. The family is wonderful. I like small towns and love friends to lovers.

The plot zips along and the heroes both grow and change.

What isn’t that enjoyable as I don’t really understand what held them back I don’t get to enjoy them being together. It is a bit slap dash in this way.

Just like That by Nicola Rendell Review

Just Like That by Nicola Rendell 3 Stars!

“I bet I can untangle you.”

At an airport baggage claim, Penny Darling looks up from her knotted mess of ear buds to find the sexiest hunk of man she’s ever seen. He’s got a military haircut, a scar through his eyebrow, and he’s rocking a pastel pink dress shirt like only a real man can. But Penny is on a man-free diet so she leaves the airport without succumbing to his delicious double-entendres…or his dreamy dimples.

PI Russ Macklin can’t take his eyes off Penny. As she sashays out of the airport with hips swaying and curls bouncing, he suspects they may share more than just sweltering chemistry. That suitcase she’s rolling along behind her? It looks a lot like his.

Because it is.

When he tracks her down, he holds her bag hostage in exchange for a date. Their night begins with margaritas and ends in urgent care, and Russ proves that Cosmo’s theory about a very particular type of orgasm was oh-so-wrong.

In Penny, Russ finds a small-town sweetheart with a very naughty side. For the first time ever, he’s thinking about picket fences. Penny finds in Russ a loving, caring man who understands the power of massaging showerheads.

But Russ is only in Port Flamingo for a week. They agree it’ll be a fling and nothing more. Because really, they can’t fall ass-over-teakettle in love just like that…

Can they?

Overall, I liked this mad cap romantic comedy. This story really is about what happens when you get gobsmacked by love, when you find your perfect partner.

The heroine comes from a great colorful family with in a crazy coastal Florida town. There are lots of quirky characters around here including the heroine. Her dog is the very best. He might be my favorite characters.

The hero is too aggressive for me at times and sets my teeth on edge. He says things like he always gets what he wants…and he does. His interior talk is very sweet and adoring so it gets me through the parts I don’t like as well.

There is a lot of hot sweaty sex and a silly investigation save the town plot which I rather liked.

It is an over the top lot of fun on the whole.
