Shade’s Lady (Reapers MC, #6.5) by Joanna Wylde Review

Shade’s Lady: A Reapers MC Novella by Joanna Wylde

Looking back, none of this would’ve happened if I hadn’t dropped my phone in the toilet. I mean, I could’ve walked away from him if I’d had it with me.
Or maybe not.
Maybe it was all over the first time he saw me, and he would’ve found another way. Probably—if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that Shade always gets what he wants, and apparently he wanted me.
Right from the first.

Review

Wylde always writes solid books. The basic story and events are intersting as is the hero and the heroine.

It is over the top lust and moves into a possible love.

However, even in this short space, we don’t get enough (excecpt for one great geeky Wonder Woman Bat Man conversation) of either character or the love story to make this great.

A nice quick read. It does make me want to check out the longer books in the series I have not read and I would like Dopey’s story.

Romancing the Inventor (Supernatural Society #1) by Gail Carriger Review

Romancing the Inventor: A Supernatural Society Novella by GAIL CARRIGER 4 Stars!

Imogene Hale is a lowly parlourmaid with a soul-crushing secret. Seeking solace, she takes work at a local hive, only to fall desperately in love with the amazing lady inventor the vampires are keeping in the potting shed. Genevieve Lefoux is heartsick, lonely, and French. With culture, class, and the lady herself set against the match, can Imogene and her duster overcome all odds and win Genevieve’s heart, or will the vampires suck both of them dry?

Review

This is an achy novella about a maid who is too pretty and her crush on a French female inventor.

It is moving exploration expectations and class burdens taking place in an historical steampunk world with vampires and werewolves.

It is a cruel place and part of the pleasure of this little sexy book is the heroines finding a way with very little room to maneuver to get a happily ever after.

I might have enjoyed this book even more if I was a devoted reader of the series but it was a lovely read on its own.

Overseer’s Chain (Brace for Humanity Book 3) by Viola Grace Review

3 Stars

Isabella is an excellent assessor, and she can put the right human in the right job without hesitation. When one of her little file manipulations gets the attention of the overseer, she is summoned to his offices and faces a harsh sentence.

Bound to the overseer by cuffs that keep her at his beck and call, Isabella gives him the details on human interaction while changing plans for her people with minuscule nudges.

Iktabi has been in charge of Imrahl since it became a viable outpost. Waiting for his own mate has been an exercise in patience. When Isabella ends up in his office, he knows his match when he sees it, but the paperwork is a nightmare.

Review

The world building in this series continues to be good and expanding. The heroine’s intelligence is a real pleasure but we know very little about the hero.

I have been looking forward to the romance between these two but it ends up feeling a bit cold without the details of character that would make the love story really good.

I liked learning more about the world but needed more romance.

Heart of the Hunted (Brace for Humanity Book 2) by Viola Grace Review

Heart of the Hunted (Brace for Humanity Book 2) - Viola Grace

When her escort turns kidnapper and she is dropped on an alien world, running is her only option.

Arix is a master tracker as well as a hunter. When one of the precious breeders is taken, he is assigned to bring her home.

He will hunt her, he will find her, and he will bring her home.

Review

There are a lot of fun tidbits in this quick science fiction romance. I like the hero and heroine very much but don’t feel we get as much falling in love as we did last book. The action is well paced but would like more on the type of alien the hero is and more on the heroine. Some fun with alien animals and the series arc moves forward nicely.

Bear Necessities by Selena Kitt Review

2 Stars

IVY
The world has moved on, but Ivy just can’t. Besides, she has everything she needs on her sustainable-living wooded homestead, and no desire to brave this grim new world.

Until the day a massive bear chases her into an isolated cabin and she discovers she’s not alone.

With a giant bear prowling outside and a gruff, bearded, half-naked savage inside, Ivy finds herself cornered. The man, who calls himself Caleb, says he’ll take her home, but she doesn’t trust him, his offer, or herself with this giant, bronzed, mountain of a man.

He might be able to protect her from the sinister enemies lurking outside—but who is going to protect her from Caleb?

CALEB
Shifter by nature, drifter by choice, Caleb is uniquely designed to survive in this dark, new hell-on-earth, where the rule of law has been replaced by brute strength.

His scars may be deep but his secrets are deeper, and until he meets feisty, sinfully curvy Ivy one fateful afternoon, he’s not sure there’s much left worth surviving for.

Finding himself unable to resist the tempting, scrumptious morsel who lands on his doorstep, he realizes she’s the one he’s been craving, and she’s more than worth fighting for.

Caleb is determined to keep her safe from everything dark and dangerous outside. But can he save Ivy from herself?

Review

Selena Kitt is a good writer and I love Bear Shifters so I am in.

Everything that is here is good but all the development is missing. For every chapter that is here, we need another one to really have worthy character development, plot, setting, and romance.

Shadow’s Seduction (The Dacians #2) by Kresley Cole Review

Review

This is the most scotching hot Kresley Cole book I have read in a long time.

It is lovely novella opposites attract, fated mates, friends to lovers fun with one heck of a resistant hero and another hero who needs to grow to be ready for his mate.

There is cool adventure mixed in with this erotic romance.

Enjoy!

Release (Hold, #2) by Claire Kent Review

Release (Hold Book 2) - Claire Kent

Review

I was very excited when I realized Kent was going to put out more books in the world she set Hold.

This book isn’t a prison planet one but it does feature a character we met there. He has cool powers and time in the prison changed him into a better person. Kind of… lol The heroine is a bookworm living in a public sex/orgy society who does care for that sort of thing. T

his is an odd book for me. I read it easily and happily. I like the characters and the writing as always with Kent/Noelle Adams is very good. But everything is paper thin. The love between the couple, the world building, character motivation… I think because I knew the hero from the last book and had snuck and read the third book in the series, I was more inclined to hang in there.

Blonde Date (The Ivy Years #2.5) by Sarina Bowen Review

4 Stars!

As a sorority pledge, there are commandments that Katie Vickery must live by. One: thou shalt not show up for the party without a date. Two: the guy shall be an athlete, preferably an upperclassman.

Unfortunately, Katie just broke up with her jerkface football player boyfriend. Even worse, her last encounter with him resulted in utter humiliation. She’d rather hide under the bed than attend a party where he’ll be.

Yet staying home would mean letting him win.

Enjoying herself tonight was out of the question. She could only hope to get through the evening without her blind date noticing that he was spending the evening with a crazy person.

Andrew Baschnagel is living proof that nice guys don’t finish first. He’s had his eye on Katie since the moment her long legs waltzed into his art history class. So when her roommate sets Andy up to be Katie’s date, he’d be crazy to say no. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have a lot of practice with either girls or parties. Yet.

Review

Oh, I was charmed by this romance. I love a kind steadfast hero. He is sexy too. Because guess what? Being thoughtful and attentive is hot and so is really being into someone.

The heroine is grabbling with an awful thing that happened to her and trying to find her way through to herself and she does so in a lovely way.

The romance is super sexy. I feel like rereading it right now.

Nix (Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club #7.5) by Candace Blevins Review

4 Stars!

Predator and prey…

Nix recently transferred to Chattanooga from the Asheville RTMC chapter. The MC’s new gun store needs someone to teach rifle classes, and Nix was a Special Forces sniper in the military.

Tippy came to Chattanooga to start her life anew. She’s a shooter as well, and she won a silver medal at the Olympics, but she uses a different name now and tries to stay out of the limelight. Most deer can’t function in human society, but she’s found ways to navigate modern life without her deer freezing or running every time something startles her.

Wolves are fiercely monogamous when they fall in love, while deer have trouble understanding the concept of exclusivity. Then there’s the fact wolves eat deer in the wild.

A wolf and a deer madly in love and living happily ever after has to be impossible. Right?

Review

I love a heroine that is very very good at something and a hero who crushes on her for her talent as it embodies who she is.

Our heroine is an Olympic level shooter and gun smith. Our hero is a world class sniper with a big ole crush on her.

Oh, he is a biker wolf shifter and she is a deer shifter. So, yeah.

The romance is hot and touching as predator and prey work out how to be together with cultural differences around sex within the background of a motorcycle club.

I am not thrilled with some elements of how the wolf dealt with the poly piece in terms of what is being said about who and what counts as sex but within the context of this couple and this world it makes sense.

This is a really enjoyable erotic action packed paranormal romance.

Acceptable Risk (Chattanooga Supernaturals, #2.5) by Candace Blevins Review

Bethany has teased for years that if she ever settles down, it’ll be with a harem of men.

Mac is a new werewolf, and is still learning control. When he overhears the beautiful redhead at the bar wanting to take on not only him, but also the werewolf and wereleopard chaperoning his night out… he has to convince them to take her home. With two powerful shapeshifters in bed, what could go wrong?

Read

This is a must read if you are enjoying Candace Blevins’ interlinked erotic Paranormal Series. The poly group that forms in this book makes a lot of appearances in later books.

The heroes are great and the sexy is hot. As always with Blevins, the world building is compelling as is the writing.

Because this is a novella, the heroine is not as well developed (or maybe she is developed in early book) and I wasn’t as into the romance.

But I am glad I read this one to fill in the world.
